The cessationists talk as though they believe that Jesus is alive and the Holy Spirit is real, but they live and minister as though His corpse is still dead in the grave. Like some statue of history to be discussed, like only some page in an old history book to be read, one that lived in the past, one that lives in the future, but now is still completely dead in the grave with no current works or life.
They live and believe as though the Holy Spirit is some memorial statue to only be remembered of what happened one time in the day of Pentecost 2000 years ago. It literally and greatly grieves God, it greatly grieves the Holy Spirit! The cessationists' Pentecost Sundays are only a mere talking about Pentecost rather than having it. Whereas Paul said that his preaching was not a matter of talk but of the demonstration of the Spirit and power. They truly do not 'allow' the Holy Spirit, God in their churches.
Cessationism is flat out heresy, adding to scripture what is not there to justify their unbelief in Him.
In Acts 19 when Paul came to other already water-baptized believing disciples of Jesus, much after Pentecost, and after it being poured out on the gentiles, and after it had been poured out on others and in churches. You know what Paul preached and ministered to them? He didn’t preach about what happened way before on Pentecost like some dead relic to be memorialized! Oh no! Paul asked these disciples a very important question, and then He demonstrated the Spirit and power like the Bible says the Apostle and disciples of scripture truly did and acted.
He said to them, 'Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?' In Acts 19:1-6.
They said they did not hear about the Holy Spirit, Paul asked them; “then into what were you baptized?” They said into John’s Water Baptism. Paul said to them that John the Baptist indeed Baptized with water unto repentance, but they should also believe on the one that came after Him, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Do you all remember what John the Baptist prophesied about the greater more powerful baptist to come?
John had prophesied in scripture; Matthew 3:11 New King James Version 'I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.'
When these disciples heard this from Paul they realized even though they were disciples and water-baptized believers already there was another work of The Baptism of Jesus Christ into the Holy Spirit and Fire they needed to receive.
And the demonstration of the Spirit and power happened next through Paul a person of true Biblical faith and one full of the Spirit.
Acts 19:6 New King James Version 'And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.'
What did Jesus say in the great commission that would be signs all over the earth that will follow those who believe, as the gospel is also preached all over the world? He said they will speak with new tongues.
Let’s get Biblical, let’s become like the true disciples of scripture! He is alive! The Holy Spirit is alive and active and pouring Himself out on all flesh! He is not dead or inactive like the cessationist live and minister.
Paul warned us in the last days there would be those with forms of godliness but they would deny the power, Paul said in scripture from such people turn away.
It’s serious because its belief system is antichrist and anti-Holy Spirit, and anti-Bible now on the earth in actual practice and function. It keeps people bound, oppressed, unhealed, unfilled, and because of this it even is the prevention of true Biblical evangelism and salvation without the Acts 1:8 enduement of power to be an effective witness His way.
Paul had the maturity to know He only had to obey for what most in the church only pray for.
There are things we do pray for, but we must see in scripture that some things like Paul did by faith in Acts 19 we only have to obey for!
